The Community Link Foundation has received a massive boost from one of it’s sponsors Southport Football Club.
The club has agreed to allow the charity to do bucket collects at the final home game of the season against Grimsby Town with all proceeds going to the charity.
On top of this the Club has offered free parent and child tickets to parents and pupils of Churchtown Primary School who earlier this year nominated the Community link Foundation as their charity of the year, this has resulted in over 700 children and their parents taking up the offer to attend the game.
It promises to be a real community day for the fixture on the 18th April and the club hopes that the atmosphere will help the team to success on the pitch, Hayden Preece, Commercial Director for Southport FC said “we are delighted to be able to support Community Link Foundation by allowing them to do the bucket collections at the game, the idea of offering the tickets to Churchtown came from the Charity and we were delighted to be able to offer the tickets and have been amazed by the uptake. It really promises to be a special atmosphere in the ground and we hope to see a bumper crowd on the day”
The Community link Foundation relies on the support of individuals and organisations to raise the funding it needs to be able to award grants locally to those who need it most, the award of Charity of the Year from Churchtown Primary School has not only raised thousands of pounds for the charity but also created great awareness amongst the children and their parents of what the charity does. Jinnie Payne and Belinda Taylor, Head Teachers at the school said “when choosing our charity of the year the children were very much involved and have had lots of great ideas about how to raise money for the charity and we have had lots of fun and learning in doing so. For the charity and the club to arrange this for the school is a fantastic opportunity and we are delighted with the uptake and look forward to the day. Many of the children will be attending their first ever football match and are very much looking forward to it”
