Thank you for your generosity in supporting
Community Link Foundation.
Without your support, our charity wouldn’t be able to continue supporting so many good causes in our region.
This Christmas, around 120 older people in Formby will enjoy a festive meal and companionship, thanks to the support of Community Link Foundation and the dedicated team at Formby Luncheon Club.
Community Link Foundation has donated £1,000 towards the cost of the Luncheon Club’s annual Christmas lunches, ensuring members can enjoy a traditional festive meal while enjoying time with other people. This is the second year running that Community Link Foundation has supported the luncheon club at Christmas.
Formby Luncheon Club is a registered charity that provides a welcoming place for people aged 60 and over to meet and socialise, as well as enjoy a two-course meal, three days a week.
For members with mobility problems, a minibus service makes it possible for them to attend. The club is run mainly by volunteers and hosts special events throughout the year, including the much-loved Christmas lunches.
Anthony Pawson, trustee of Formby Luncheon Club, said:
“Christmas can be a very lonely time for many older people, but thanks to Community Link Foundation’s generous support, our members can look forward to a wonderful meal and, more importantly, a day spent in the company of friends. The enjoyment and sense of community that these lunches bring is clear to see and makes such a difference to people’s lives.”
The Christmas lunches are more than just a meal. They provide an opportunity for members to socialise, connect, and feel part of a supportive community. Volunteers prepare and serve the food and bring the festive fun to the occasion.
Enda Rylands, Chair of Community Link Foundation, said:
“The work that Formby Luncheon Club does is invaluable, not just at Christmas but all year round. We’re proud to support them in making sure that older people in Formby can celebrate the festive season with good food and good company. At CLF, we believe in supporting projects that bring people together and make a real difference in their daily lives, and this is a wonderful example.”
Formby Luncheon Club continues to rely on grants and donations to operate, with running costs rising and the charity currently facing a monthly shortfall. Initiatives like the Christmas lunches are only possible thanks to the generosity of supporters and organisations like Community Link Foundation.
