Community Link Foundation was delighted to support an application from Hope Street Cafe in Ormskirk to enable them to provide Christmas Dinner for 80 people.
Hope Street is a Peer Support community Cafe/Hub that has a team of volunteers qualified in children and young people’s mental health, early years development, teaching and learning, neurolinguistic programming, life coaching, counselling and mental health nursing. Our main principles are to provide a safe, arm place where individuals and families can attend for support in real time issues with real time solutions to prevent mental health crisis, aid recovery and sustain overall wellbeing. Our lived experience in mental health validates, educates, gives hope and inspires people of the community to talk openly.
Hope Street opened on Christmas Day 2022 to feed people in the community who are vulnerable, alone, isolated, single parents, elderly or carers. Everybody received a welcoming warm space, so they didn’t have to worry about heating their homes, and a homemade 4-course dinner by a fully qualified chef. Volunteers gathered on Christmas Eve to prepare the food and again on Christmas Day to cook and serve the guests.
Community Link Foundation funding ensured that everyone enjoyed a welcoming and safe environment to enjoy Christmas Day.
