Thank you for your generosity in supporting
Community Link Foundation.
Without your support, our charity wouldn’t be able to continue supporting so many good causes in our region.
Community Link Foundation is proud to support Southport FC Community Foundation with funding towards a new initiative that will make football more accessible for local children and families.
The project, led by Southport FC Community Foundation, will see the installation of a secure, weatherproof donation box at the football ground on Haig Avenue. This will allow supporters and families to drop off outgrown football boots and kits at any time, ensuring that no child misses out on playing the game because of financial barriers.
The donated items will be cleaned and prepared by volunteers, before being offered through a pop-up shop where families can swap their old kit for sizes that fit. Not only will this reduce financial pressure on families, it will also cut down on waste and promote sustainability.
Scott Blundell from Southport FC Community Foundation, explained the thinking behind the project:
“We know from talking to parents during our half-term programmes that many families are struggling with the cost of football boots and kit, especially as children quickly grow out of them. This project is designed to make things easier, so every child can take part without financial worry. Thanks to the support of Community Link Foundation, we can create a simple, sustainable system that benefits families, reduces waste and strengthens the community spirit around the club.”
The project will provide long-term benefits for children and young people who attend the Foundation’s football programmes, their parents and carers, and the wider Southport community. It will also give supporters and donors an easy, 24/7 way to contribute directly to local families.
Community Link Foundation Chairman, Enda Rylands, said:
“This is exactly the type of project we are proud to support. It tackles a real need in our community by helping families who may be struggling, while also promoting sustainability and inclusion. Football should be open to everyone, and this initiative makes sure that no child is left out because they don’t have the right kit. We’re delighted to be able to help bring it to life.”
