A local charity announced that it has awarded £54,000 in grants this year at their annual supporters lunch.
Community Link Foundation invited supporters of the charity, along with recipients of funding along to a lunch at The Office on Friday. Guests were told of the fundraising activity that has taken place over the last 12 months and had the chance to hear of the difference it has made to people’s lives.
Chairman of the board of Trustees, Enda Rylands, spoke at the lunch and told guests about the fundraising events that have been held resulting in £54,000 being given out to the local community. He thanked the people who have organised and attended the events and thanked the sponsors and ambassadors of Community Link Foundation.
Guests also heard from people who have benefitted from grants and it gave the supporters and sponsors a first-hand opportunity to hear how the fundraising that they do can change people’s lives.
Community Link Foundation offers financial support to people and organisations in need of funding in Southport, Formby, Ormskirk, Burscough and the areas in between.
One of the people who spoke at the lunch was Lyndsey McHugh whose son Jude received funding towards an operation to help him walk. Lyndsey spoke of the difference that the operation has made to Jude’s life and how it was only made possible due to funding from Community Link Foundation. Eight year old Jude, who has cerebral palsy, said a few words of thanks too which was a lovely moment for all the guests.
Also speaking at the lunch was Carol Vaughan who organises a VIP event for the homeless which Community Link Foundation donated money towards along with the Merseyside Society for the Deaf.
Enda Rylands said: “The lunch gave us the perfect opportunity to thank everyone for their ongoing support throughout the year. Without these people there wouldn’t be such a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, and we wouldn’t be able to make the donations that we do.
“It was great to be able to hear direct from organisations and individuals about the difference that Community Link Foundation has made to them and the impact that the grants have had on their lives. The grants are only possible due to the support of the sponsors, ambassadors and the dedicated fundraisers so it was very special to have them all in a room together and able to hear each others’ stories.
“We are very grateful to everyone who attended and we look forward to continuing to work together in 2018.”
