The Community Link Foundation was delighted to be able to assist a grant request from Formby Council for Voluntary Services for assistance with its Luncheon Club. The club has over 130 elderly members and provides lunches for over 60 people 4 days per week.
Joan Talbot, secretary at the club, contacted Community link Foundation looking for assistance towards the costs of refurbishing the forecourt area at the club which had become unsafe for users.
The club is a vital source of comfort and companionship for all its regular users and this work is required to ensure the users can be safe when they arrive.
Joan told Community Link Foundation “We provide an invaluable service to the local community and all our funds are used towards the costs of activities. The forecourt has gradually become worse and we need to get this repaved for the benefit of all users. This grant assistance towards the costs will allow us to complete the task sooner and although we are not fully at our target we are an awful lot closer. Hopefully this will also create awareness in the local area and we can benefit from further fundraising activities to help get us to our target and anyone able to assist should get in touch
