Community Link Foundation was delighted to make a grant award to Timesavers based in Burscough.
Timesavers aims to help overcome barriers to the employability of people with learning difficulties by supporting them to gain further skills and experience in all aspects of office work and computers such as use of photocopiers, printers and shredding machines together with filing and using Microsoft Office programs. We will also help them to improve their communication skills and confidence in the workplace.
People with learning disabilities often need extra help such as allowing them to repeat tasks and letting them to work at their own pace so it makes it easier for them to acquire new skills without feeling under stress. In order to achieve this work experience and skills training is given in a supportive environment and in this way we hope to overcome the barriers to learning which people with learning disabilities often encounter.
Timesavers arrange for qualified sessional workers to collect them from where they live, support the people whilst they are at our office, then return them home after their training/ work experience.
The grant from the Community Link Foundation will contribute towards providing materials for the office and transport costs which will be greatly appreciated by the charity.
