Over the last few weeks the Community Link Foundation has been contacting local schools, businesses and individuals asking them to wear their finest festive jumpers to raise money for the charity to distribute in the area.
They have had some amazing backing, ranging from small local businesses to the cast and creative team of Aladdin at Southport Theatre.
Many businesses will be taking part, along with Norwood Primary School, Range High School, BabyBallet Southport and Slimming World.
The cast and crew of Aladdin wore their Christmas jumpers for a day of rehearsals earlier this week, prior to the show opening on December 11.
Claire Simmo, Radio City Presenter, who plays Spirit of the Ring in the show, said: “?????”
Businesses that have already agreed to take part include Anthony James Estate Agents, Barron Financial Solutions, Southport Visiter, Ramada Plaza Southport, Chris Tinsley Estate Agents, David Lloyd & Co, Exclusive Magazine, Hot Frox, Cabello hairdressing in Ormskirk, Pure Image Beauty and Cook and Talbot solicitors.
Some organisations are holding their jumper day on a different date, to fit in with Christmas parties, so there’s still time to get involved.
David Barron, chair of Community Link Foundation, said: “We really hope that people will join in the fun and wear a Christmas jumper in exchange for a small donation.
“It’s not just about raising money of course; we want people to know about the Community Link Foundation and consider us when they are planning their own fundraising activity, or people may want to apply to us for a grant.
“We really want people to just have some fun in the run up to Christmas while thinking of others. We would love it if everyone who is taking part, sends us some pictures so we can fill our social media feeds with something fun.”
The Communtiy Link Foundation helps people in Southport, Ormskirk, Formby and surrounding areas who need financial support in a variety of ways.
In the last few months they have given grants to a range of organisations and individuals including Southport Foodbank and The Learning Rooms.
