A community arts social enterprise group has received a grant from Community Link Foundation to help them make the arts accessible to everyone.
Divine Days Community Arts CIC runs arts based projects and activities that are based on finding ways to well-being through using different therapeutic approaches.
They work with adults and young people with additional needs, the elderly, those living with long term health conditions and those living with dementia. They also work in schools, care homes and a variety of community projects.
Divine Days, based in Burscough, applied to Community Link Foundation for funding to enable them to deliver a social group for young adults with additional needs. CLF were delighted to grant the funding for just over £1300.
A spokesperson for Divine Days said: “The sessions will run weekly for six months in the day time as there is a real gap in activities such as this in our community, where people are free to make their own choices about activities and let their hair down. We have been approached by carers and support workers to help start a social group for adults with additional needs, which provides a safe meeting place where individuals can have access to dancing, arts and music. We will also have relaxation activities such as foot spa, health and beauty and healthy eating.”
The planned activities will bring people together and enable people to make connections, share common goals and experiences and create new ones.
Enda Rylands, chairman of Community Link Foundation, said: “Divine Days are doing some great work in the community and when we heard of their plans to start another group, we really wanted to help them to get it started and provide somewhere for young people to go. We were pleased we were in a position to help. We would love to be able to help more groups like this and it would be great to hear from anyone who is able to hold a fundraising event for us.”
